Introducing owners and trainers Mel & Mark Parsons: Between us we have 45+ years equine experience and knowledge across diverse areas of the industry. We work well together as a team; anything that one of us can’t do the other can. We have spent several years together starting horses under saddle and continuing with further education.
A little more about each of us:
Mel was introduced to horses at 8 years old and has never looked back. She spent her child and teenage years competing successfully through the higher levels of pony club. Mel has worked at several equine establishments ranging from studs to racing stables, agistment centres to dressage training stables. Mel has gained qualifications in equine management, agriculture and a degree in Rural Business. She has spent years educating horses and helping riders work their way through the levels. She has enjoyed her roles as Chief Instructor and District Comisioner at local pony clubs, judging a variety of competitions and organising local and state level equine competitions. Mel has a real passion for ground handling and education of young horses & foals, while enjoying preparing horses to high standard for showing and sale.
Mark was born into the equine industry. Spending his early childhood helping his mother with her Thoroughbred racehorses and father with his Standardbred racehorses, he watched his father work as a farrier and sister as a jockey, it was hard for him to get away from the horses. He has continued this upbringing by working in racing stables, riding trackwork, starting horses under saddle, re-educating difficult horses and successfully racing his own Standarbreds. Mark has been shoeing horses for over 15 years and has completed studies as a horse trainer.
